Join us this August for our annual celebration of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal

Jump aboard Botany Bay Canal Fest!

After the success of last year’s celebration, the Botany Bay Canal Fest is set for the Bank Holiday Weekend – Sunday 27th and Monday 29th August 2017!

Join us for two fantastic days of festivities and entertainment on land and on water with all your favourites from last year including boat rides, hook a duck, classic car display with Lancashire Vehicle Club, birds of prey, Punch and Judy, vintage bus rides, Silcocks mini funfair and bumper boats, plus much more.

Thanks to Boatel Party Cruises and Ellerbeck Narrowboats, visitors will have the chance to sail along the canal to enjoy the beautiful scenery in what promises to be another wonderful event for the whole family.

The boat trips will offer very contrasting experiences with Boatel Party Cruises running cruises along the canal for all the family. This leisurely journey will last 45 minutes and refreshments will be available on board. Tickets cost £3 per person – just turn up on the day to the mooring outside Botany Bay to book.

Ellerbeck Narrowboats will be offering 40 minute trips along the canal to Johnson’s Hillock Locks. This unique hands-on experience gives all members of the family the chance to have a go at sailing a canal barge (children must be supervised at all times). These boats can accommodate up to 10 people per journey and tickets are priced at £3.50 for adults, £2.50 for children and £10 for a family of four. Just turn up on the day to the mooring to book your time slot.

New for this year we are pleased to welcome heritage boat ‘The Kennet’ to sit amongst an amazing flotilla. It is now a floating museum and there is no charge to board the boat for a look around.

We are also giving our visitors the opportunity to have a FREE canoeing experience with CRT Canoe Trail.

Plus, local musicians, artists and members of The Lancashire Society will display their talents whilst our vendors sell food, drink, crafts and other wares.

There’s FREE entry and FREE parking, plus due to demand, there’s the new Canal Fest Express – a FREE return shuttle bus service running up to every 15 minutes from Chorley town centre by Stagecoach on both days. Please click on the link below to download the timetable.

The event will be opened by the Mayor of Chorley, Councillor Mark Perks at 11am on Sunday 27th August.

If you are planning on bringing a boat, then there’s FREE mooring, please let us know by completing the boaters form below.
